Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy are hoping that star midfielder David BeckhamÂ's loan move to Italian giants AC Milan can be pushed through in the next couple of weeks.
It is understood that the former England captain is set on a return to the Serie A side in order to improve his chances of being included in England manager Fabio CapelloÂ's World Cup squad for 2010.
Tim Leiweke, chief executive of the West Coast club, also appears to have approved the 34-year-oldÂ's desire to return to the club where he spent the second half of the Major League Soccer season last year.
Â"We want to get it done, for him and for us, and I donÂ't want any confusion,Â" explained Leiweke. Â"We know that he has to be playing in Europe leading up to the World Cup. That has been made clear to us and we are going to support that.Â"
Beckham is now expected to see out the remainder of the current season with the Galaxy before moving back to Milan in time for the New Year. However, despite enduring a turbulent time on the pitch in recent months after Galaxy fans questioned his loyalty to the club, Leiweke confirmed the Beckham would still return to the team.
Â"We have a contract and despite people thinking weÂ're going to sell him, weÂ're not. David is going to finish his career with the Galaxy,Â" he explained.
