With the December 1st UIGEA enforcement dead-line edging closer and closer to coming into full effect the Poker Players Alliance has thrown their weight behind ideas to hold off on the strict enforcement of the confusing UIGEA law.
Previous attempts by the PPA and Governor Barney Frank to block the UIGEA from becoming strict law and even to overturn it on the grounds of regulating the industry over an outright ban have failed.
The Poker Players Alliance is an interest group of thousands of poker players throughout America – several high profile poker players are members and they have strong support.
The PPA have submitted a petition stating that enforcing the UIGEA would put unreasonable pressure on enforcers and companies would struggle to keep on the right side of the law due to it being so unclear what is legal and what is not.
The petition sent to the U.S Treasury Secretary could help, at least poker, stay legal online in the States. The U.S Treasury now has 180 days to reply to the petition.
