Popular console games creator SEGA have been granted a full interactive online gambling license in Alderney today which will allow the legendary gaming company move into the online poker and casinos market.

SEGA Casino and SEGA Poker will both be powered by popular software developer Playtech which will come together in SEGAÂ's existing SEGAPass platform.

With the popularity seen recently in branded slots and other casino games such as the Marvel Comic series being transformed into online slot games we can expect to see plenty more SEGA branded characters making their appearances on the reels such as cult-hero Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter and House of the Dead.

A SEGAGames spokesman has said Â"The Alderney Gambling Control Commission provides the most comprehensive gaming regulations with the strictest requirements and as such is recognizes as the most reputable online gaming jurisdiction. This provides as excellent fit with Sega's regulatory compliant strategy and we are pleased to be approved by this leading authority.Â"
