Las Vegas hotel mogul and president of Morgans Hotel Group, Randy Kwasniewski, has been found shot dead in his Vegas home. The company, of which he was president, made the announcement to the press yesterday that the man behind the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on the Vegas strip had been found dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Las Vegas police were alerted to a disturbance at KwasniewskiÂ's home and shortly arrived on the scene of the murder, at around 10 am yesterday morning. A single gunshot wound is believed to be the cause of death and the LV murder squad are now conducting a thorough investigation of the scene.

KwasniewskiÂ's most famous project has undoubtedly been the Hard Rock Casino which is separately owned from the famous restaurant chain. The overhaul of the complex added a further 374 hotel suites, as well as a new open-air swimming pool and concert venue that is frequented by such chart topping artists as Santana.

Kwasnieski was well known in the hotel and gambling industry and many people have spoken of the shock and confusion as to why he was the target of such a horrific shooting. Indeed, Fred Kleisnerm Morgans Hotel GroupÂ's chief executive released this statement to the press following the death of his friend and colleague: "I know few hotel and casino executives who have the knowledge, focus and work ethic that Randy possessed.Â"
