Who is the next WSOP Champion?

img/old/news/wsopCash.jpg

Whilst we donÂ't know who the 2012 WSOP Main Event champion is going to be just yet, what we do know is that he will be American as Greg Merson, Jesse Sylvia and Jake Balsiger are all from the USA. But hereÂ's a bit more info on the final three:

Greg Merson, 88,350,000. The 24-year-old poker pro, was many pundits picks to take down the title and heÂ's gone a long way to proving them right as heÂ's got the chip lead with three players left. He first came to the attention of the poker world when he won the $10,000 six-max event at this yearÂ's WSOP. If he wins the event heÂ'll also overtake Phil Hellmuth in the WSOP player of the year race.

Quote: "When short-handed play starts, I think that's my game because a lot of players either play too tight, or they over-adjust."

Jesse Sylvia, 62,750,000 He started the final table with a big chip lead and just as importantly had position on Merson. He lives in Las Vegas and is a professional poker player, only Jonathan Duhamel, in recent years, has gone wire to wire at the final table. Coached by Vanessa Selbst.

Quote: "I can't wait to get back up here and play. I wish we could play it out right now.Â"

Jake Balsiger, 46,875,000 The 21-year-old can become the youngest ever main event winner should he triumph tonight, he started the final table eight of nine, so has punched above his weight to make the final three. Some might say hiring Mike McDonald as a coach had a helping hand. Is a student entering his senior year at Arizona State University, a political science major he no doubt has one eye on the upcoming election.

Quote: Â"It feels amazing. Best IÂ've ever felt in my life. ItÂ's like the highest high there is.Â"
