The poker and snooker worlds will collide next month courtesy of a special tournament organised by Grosvenor Poker.
Arranged in conjunction with sport promotions firm Matchroom Sport, the £500+50 event is taking place at the G Casino in Sheffield from 5-6 May, with a series of top snooker pros set to compete alongside everyday players.
Casino operators Grosvenor are adding numerous prizes to the event, which takes place during the World Snooker Championship, including seats to the £200,000 guaranteed Goliath tournament in August, as well as a VIP table for 10 at the World Championship closing party.
Half of the main event registration fee and 10% of the prize pool is being donated to Bluebell Wood ChildrenÂ's Hospital.
Players can buy in to the tournament directly or attempt to qualify live or online, with a £50+5 internet qualifier scheduled for 28 April at 8pm.
Live satellites have already begun in Sheffield and continue with £55 freezeouts on 28 April and 3 May, either side of a £40+£3 qualifier on 2 May, while a last chance £30 rebuy qualifier is to be held on 4 May.
A number of snooker pros are keen poker players, with former World Championship semi-finalist Matthew Stevens having previously cashed on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, while six-time world champion Steve Davis has made the money in the WSOP Main Event three times.
Davis said of the upcoming event: Â"I'm working for the BBC at the Crucible but as soon as I get a chance I'll be at the Grosvenor to see what's happening on the other green baize game and hopefully play a few hands.Â"
Matchroom Sport owner Barry Hearn added: Â"If you fancy yourself as a poker player then get involved because this event is going to set the pulses racing.Â"
