WSOP gongs for Pope, Sylvestre and Beauprez

2013Â's World Series of Poker is well and truly under way with three events already completed and the wrists of three champions newly adorned with iconic gold bracelets.

Event #2, $5,000 No-Limit HoldÂ'em Eight Handed was won by Trevor Pope who was in imperious form to capture the title. He put on a dominant display of poker to win his first ever bracelet and largest career cash to date, taking down 'a talented eight-handed final table before beating David Vamplew heads-up. PopeÂ's victory netted him $553,906.

Day 3 saw 38 players battling it out to reach the winnerÂ's circle in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Re-entry event. There were several top pros in attendance including Scott Seiver and Nam Le. However the tournament was eventually won by Charles Sylvestre who won $491,360 and also claimed the first gold bracelet of his career.

Event #4, the $1,500 No-Limit HoldÂ'em/Six Handed tournament took place over the weekend with 1,069 entries furiously battling over three days for a cash prize of $324,764 and a coveted gold bracelet. There was a range of both amateurs and top professionals at the felt and the event was eventually won by John Beauprez. 2009 Main Event Champ Joe Cada came in fourth place for the event which is one of the few short-handed tournaments of the WSOP, but the day eventually belonged to Beauprez, who beat Manig Loeser heads-up to secure the victory.
