Luis Suarez joins Team 888poker

Football superstar Luis Suarez has signed for online poker site 888poker as a worldwide brand ambassador.

The Liverpool and Uruguay striker, who is set to represent his country at this yearÂ's World Cup in Brazil, will regularly compete online at the 888poker site as well as participate in live events and money-canÂ't-buy experiences with players.

The 2014 PFA Player of the Year, who is described as a keen poker enthusiast, was unveiled as the newest face of 888poker at a press conference in Barcelona on Wednesday.

The South American joins the likes of cricketer Shane Warne and UFC champ Georges St-Pierre as Team 888poker Ambassadors.

888 senior vice president Itai Pazner said: Â"Luis Suarez is an incredible sporting talent: passionate, competitive, technically gifted and emotionally invested in the game.

Â"It's those qualities that make him an exciting player to watch, in poker as well as football.
