WPT season XIV to kick off in Canada

Season XIV of the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship will begin in Montreal in May.

The PartyPoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship at Playground Poker Club will start on 1 May, following the end of the current season on 29 April, when the WPT World Championship in Atlantic City concludes.

WPT president Adam Pliska told WPTÂ's official website: Â"Alongside PartyPoker, the World Poker Tour is proud to kick off Season XIV at Playground Poker Club, a first-class property that offers an unparalleled level of hospitality to our players.

Â"In four WPT Main Tour events over three consecutive seasons, Playground has generated a combined prize pool of more than $10.5m, and we look forward to yet another massive turnout this May."

The cash buy-in for the WPT Main Tour event is C$3,500 and players will be able to play in two starting flights with next day re-entry.

Players who bag on day 1a may also play in day 1b and can forfeit their smallest stack should they bag in both.

There will be numerous opportunities for players to qualify for the Main Event, as a direct buy-in is available 24 hours per day at the Playground Poker Club and several live satellites will be held in the lead-up to the event.
