A bartender from the Bay Area of California purchased a winning lottery ticket with $20 he found on the ground outside San Francisco International Airport, winning him the top prize of $1m.

Hubert Tang purchased his first two lottery tickets in ten years at AndreaÂ's Market in Millbrae, the California lottery said in a statement.

Tang said he was in shock upon discovering his success: Â"I told my friend who I was with that I didnÂ't know if it was real but, ‘I think IÂ've just won a million dollarsÂ'.

Â"I havenÂ't really thought about what I am going to do with the money. For now I am just going to put it in savings.Â"

Tang added that he may use some of the money to pay his good fortune forward.

He joked: Â"Maybe IÂ'll start leaving $20 bills on the street in random places.Â"

The market that sold Tang the winning ticket will receive a $5,000 bonus from the California State Lottery.
