Man United looks to sign the striker ahead of the summer transfer window

Harry Kane is just one of the many options Manchester United is interested in signing. However, they're trying to alleviate some of the cost to bring him aboard. One way they can do this is by including Anthony Martial in the deal.

Tottenham has inquired about Martial in the past, but sources told ESPN that the French forward would prefer a different move. Martial has noted to representation that he'd rather be moved to Italy or Spain if he leaves Old Trafford this summer.

Martial has a contract with Manchester United through 2024, with the option of a one-year extension. However, his time with the team hasn't been impactful. In eight appearances, he's scored one goal while being loaned to Sevilla. The Spanish team has made it known that they're unlikely to pursue anything permanent with Martial.

United is searching for a striker that can replace Edison Cavani, who is set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. Cavani sustained a calf injury playing for Uruguay on Wednesday but is wanted by many clubs in Italy. Because of this, United is likely to be without him by the end of the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also a big question that is yet to be answered as the 37-year-old has a contract for another year. However, he's yet to state whether he intends to play another season or the option year beyond that.

United is also hoping to appoint a permanent manager before the end of the season. This will allow the manager to influence the summer recruitment drive. Right now, the club is looking for strikers and mid-fielders to sign before the transfer window. They've also stated they could alter their approach depending on the new manager's plans.

Until then, sources have told ESPN that United will reveal their preseason tour on Thursday. They're also expected to announce games played in Thailand and Australia to be played in July.
