MLB Games to Watch: May 2, Picks & Predictions
Ricky Gray | May 2, 2022
Tonight, two games will feature the current leaders of their respective divisions.
There are a lot of games scheduled for today, but there are a few games that we think you should tune into and perhaps place a wager on. Let's look at each of these games and see if we can make a correct pick.
New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays - 7:07 PM ET
Leading the AL East is the New York Yankees with a record of 16-6. Tonight, they face the team following closely behind them in the division, the Toronto Blue Jays. Getting the start on the mound is Jordan Montgomery, who has a record of 0-1 this season. The Yankees have won their last five games and are looking to extend their winning streak to six.
Looking to prevent this is the Toronto Blue Jays, currently 15-8. A win here will see them get closer to taking over the division, but it'll take a lot of work to beat the Yankees. Ross Stripling will get his first start of the year and attempt to slow down the batters of the Yankees. Although it's a tall task, we'll take the Blue Jays to win this one.
Ricky's Pick - Toronto Blue Jays -105
Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets - 7:10 PM ET
Although this game is starting just minutes after the game above, we think it's definitely worth the watch. The Braves are fourth in the NL East with a record of 10-13. Tonight, they'll face off against the leader of the NL East, the New York Mets. On the mound for the Braves is Max Fried who will attempt to stop the team with the second-best batting average in Major League Baseball.
The New York Mets have a team batting average of .262, however more impressive is their on-base percentage of .344. In this regard, they rank first in MLB and have notched the fourth-most runs in the league. On the mound tonight is the 3-1 Chris Bassitt, with an ERA of 2.25. Look for the Mets to get the first win of this series tonight.
Ricky's Pick - New York Mets -115
