The first game of the Eastern Conference Finals is set for tonight at 8:30 PM ET. The Boston Celtics will head to Miami to face the Heat, shortly after their series win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Today, we'll look at what each team is bringing to the contest and make our pick for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Boston Celtics at Miami Heat - 8:30 PM ET
Each of these teams could be missing vital players in their lineup. For the Boston Celtics, PG Marcus Smart is "questionable" to play tonight. With a sprained foot, there is a chance that Smart could miss this game tonight, Smart leads the team in assists per game.
However, even if Smart is ruled out for today's game, the Celtics have one of the best defenses in the NBA. On average, the Celtics allow 104.41 points per game. Offensively, the Celtics averaged 111.8 points per game during the regular season, ranking 12th in the NBA.
The Miami Heat also have an incredible defense, allowing an average of 104.61 points per game. However, they'll be without Kyle Lowry, their starting point guard. They could also be without starting PF P.J. Tucker, who would be responsible for guarding Jayson Tatum.
While the Heat have the benefit of playing at home, they haven't done well against the Celtics in the past. Through their last three meetings, the Celtics are 2-1 against the Miami Heat. They also have the same record against the spread and come in as two-point underdogs tonight.
With their defense and how they've played against Miami in the past, we think the Celtics will win Game 1 tonight. We'll also pair this pick with the under.
