Goaltender Charlie Lindgren will step in for Binnington during his absence.
Although the St. Louis Blues will face the Colorado Avalanche tonight, they'll do so without their starting goaltender. On Saturday night, Jordan Binnington suffered an injury in Game 3 of the series.
The St. Louis Blues went on to lose the game, 5-2. Now, the Blues will have to decide whether to start Villie Husso or goaltender Charlie Lindgren. Lindgren was brought up from the Blues' AHL affiliate under emergency conditions.
The Blues organization has announced that Binnington suffered a lower-body injury. Sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan that Binnington has a knee injury.
Binnington left quickly into the first period of Game 3 after Avalanche center Nazem Kadri and Blues defenseman Calle Rosen both flew into the net seeking a loose puck. Binnington was caught in the melee, which resulted in his injury.
Husso gave up four goals on 23 shots in the 5-2 loss. The Avalanche are now leading the series 2-1, but the Blues will play at home tonight.
Although no penalties were called on the crash, Blues Head Coach Craig Berube questioned Kadri's role in the collision.
Berube said: "Look at Kadri's reputation. That's all I've got to say." Kadri has been suspended multiple times in the postseason, including an 8-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of St. Louis defenseman Justin Faulk back in 2021.
Kadri went on to defend his actions during the play, stating: "I just see a loose puck, really. It was just kind of sitting behind him. Their defenseman collided with me and pushed me into him. Had that not been the case, I don't think I would have hit him at all."
The next game between these two is set for May 23 at 9:30 PM ET and can be watched on TNT.
