Man City winger Raheem Sterling is close to joining Chelsea after agreeing on personal terms.
Raheem Sterling is set to become the Blues' highest-paid player once the deal finally goes through. Exact details have yet to be finalized as talks continue but Sterling is expected to move for a figure in the region of £45 million.
At the moment, N'Golo Kante is Chelsea's top earned on £ 290,000 a week. However, Sterling’s deal is expected to top that according to several sources.
Chelsea believes this deal is all but complete and Sterling could join the team as they head to the US. The club is set to embark on a three-game preseason tour in the United States.
He has made 339 appearances for City since joining from Liverpool in 2015, scoring 131 goals. Chelsea is also in talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, but that has yet to come to fruition.
Real Madrid was another club interested in adding Sterling. However, Sterling was more impressed with Thomas Tuchel's vision of both his personal role and his plan.
Recently it was revealed that Chelsea launched an investigation surrounding the club. Chelsea has appointed an external review team to investigate allegations of bullying.
Several former and existing members of the staff described a "toxic workplace culture". This culture led to the termination of 10 employees.
In a statement, Chelsea’s board said: “The club's new board believes strongly in a workplace environment and corporate culture that empowers its employees and ensures they feel safe, included, valued and trusted.”
It would seem that the ownership change has done a lot for the team and will continue to foster a positive work environment.
