Pete Alonso comes in as the favorite to win this year's event.
The Home Run Derby is a fun event for everyone to watch especially with the stars that are making an appearance. Unfortunately, the league-leading home run hitter Aaron Judge isn’t participating.
However, Pete Alonso and others will be putting on quite the show and Alonso leads the odds. The Home Run Derby will take place on July 18, 2022. The event will start at 8:00 PM ET and will be live-streamed on fuboTV and broadcast on ESPN.
The participants this year include Pete Alonso, Juan Soto of the Nationals, Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Braves, Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies, and Albert Pujols of the Cardinals. Joining them are Mariners rookie Julio Rodriguez, José Ramírez of the Guardians, and former Dodger and current Ranger Corey Seager.
The format for this event will feature players going head to head to see who comes out on top. The schedule at the moment is:
- No. 1 Kyle Schwarber vs. No. 8 Albert Pujols
- No. 2 Pete Alonso vs. No. 7 Ronald Acuña Jr.
- No. 3 Corey Seager vs. No. 6 Julio Rodriguez
- No. 4 Juan Soto vs. No. 5 José Ramírez
Although each of these players have a chance to win it all, there are two that stand out in terms of odds. One is Pete Alonso, the other is the No.1 seed Kyle Schwarber.
Here are the odds for the event:
- Alonso +190
- Schwarber +325
- Soto +650
- Acuña +700
- Rodríguez +1000
- Seager +1000
- Ramírez +1600
- Pujols +2200
Alonso leads the group but Schwarber actually has more home runs this season than Alonso. Between the two, we’d go with Schwarber at +325 this way you’ll get one of the top home run hitters on your ticket.
