The Houston Astros and LA Dodgers both have inter-divisional games tonight.

Now that we’re in the second part of the season, things are really heating up in Major League Baseball. Winning divisional games is going to be vital as the season continues.

Today, we’re going to take a look at two divisional games and make our picks for each of them. We’ll start with the Houston Astros who will host the Seattle Mariners.

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros - 8:10 PM ET

The Seattle Mariners have a 54-46 record this season and are 27-23 on the road. At the moment the team ranks second in the NL West, right behind the Houston Astros. Tonight, they’ll send out the 8-7 Robbie Ray to take on the batters in Houston.

Speaking of batters, the Mariners have a .235 batting average this season, which isn’t great. Even with Ray’s ERA of 3.90, if the Mariners batters can’t put up runs, Seattle will be in trouble. It also doesn’t help that the Astros are starting Justin Verlander.

Verlander has a 13-3 record this season with an outstanding ERA of 1.86. With him on the mound, the Astros have the best chance of winning this game. Having the better batting team only sweetens the odds.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies - 8:40 PM ET

The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off of a 13-0 win over the Colorado Rockies last night. After such a huge win, it’s no shock that they come into the game as -235 favorites.

Getting the start tonight is Julio Urias, who has a 9-6 record this season. His 2.72 ERA is great as well considering the Rockies have a pretty great batting team. The Dodgers are no slouch at the plate either, especially with Mookie Betts in the lineup.

Betts has hit 23 home runs this year and the Dodgers as a group have a batting average of .257. The Rockies have a great .261 batting average but their pitching situation is a problem. The best bet in this one is the Dodgers, that much is certain.
