The superstar of the UFC will take a new leap into feature films.

McGregor's spokesperson Karen J. Kessler confirmed to ESPN that he’ll be making his film debut in the upcoming Road House remake.

Starring in the film is Jake Gyllenhaal in a new take on the classic 1980s hit that starred Patrick Swayze. The movie studio in charge of development is Amazon Prime Video.

Deadline was the first to report the news of McGregor’s involvement with the film.

In a statement, Kessler said: “Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of 'Road House,' a beloved classic.

“While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming.”

At the moment McGregor is still recovering from a fractured leg he suffered in a July 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier. He hasn’t made an appearance in the octagon since that date.

McGregor and his team recently sold the majority of his Proper Twelve whiskey brand to Jose Cuervo in April 2021 in a deal worth upward of $600m.

The remake will see Jake Gyllenhaal starring as a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer in a Florida Keys bar. Although McGregor’s role is unknown, Deadline stated that he would be playing an original character and not himself.

Per Deadline, the movie will film in the Dominican Republic and will stream on Prime Video at a later date.

McGregor was ranked by Forbes as the world's highest-paid athlete in 2021.
