This AL East vs. AL West matchup should be an entertaining one.

Tonight there’s a fun matchup scheduled between the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners. The Yankees are 70-39 this season and have a 29-24 record on the road.

However, the Yankees have lost five games in a row and the Houston Astros are starting to catch up to them in the American League. Recent performances by the Yankees have been shocking, especially yesterday’s 12-9 loss.

The good news is that Jameson Taillon will get the start tonight. Taillon has a record of 10-2 this season with an ERA of 3.96 over the course of 113.2 innings. He’s thrown 98 strikeouts this season and has allowed only 16 home runs.

With Taillon on the mound, the Yankees have a good chance to win this game. The question is, can they actually find a way to close out the game? They have a great set of batters featuring Aaron Judge and DJ LeMahieu.

Judge and LeMahieu make up a batting group that has a team batting average of .246, ranking 14th overall. They lead the league in runs (579) and have the second-best on-base percentage in the league (.331).

The Seattle Mariners have a record of 59-51 and have gone 29-25 at home this season. Getting the start on the mound is Logan Gilbert, who has a 10-4 record this season.

With an ERA of 3.09, Gilbert could be considered a better pitcher than Taillon. He’s pitched 128.1 innings this season and has thrown 120 strikeouts in that time.

Where the Mariners struggle is at the plate where they have a batting average of .233. Although the Yankees are on the road tonight, they’re the better pick in our opinion.
