Baltimore looks to sweep Toronto with a win tonight.
The Toronto Blue Jays have lost two games in a row to the Baltimore Orioles, bringing their record to 60-50, ranking second in the AL East.
The Baltimore Orioles (58-52), can win one more game and pull off the three-game sweep. This will be much easier said than done against the Blue Jays lineup.
Getting the start on the mound for the Blue Jays tonight is Jose Berrios, who is 8-4 this season. Although his record is impressive, his ERA of 5.19 is rather lackluster.
As a team, the Blue Jays have a significant advantage over the Baltimore Orioles in terms of batting average. Toronto boasts a .265 average while the Orioles have a .237.
The advantage at the plate goes to the Blue Jay although they’ve been very unimpressive over the last two games. Pitching, however, goes to the Orioles who are starting Dean Kramer.
Kramer has an ERA of 3.43 with a record of 4-3 this season. Over the span of 57.2 innings, Kramer has thrown 43 strikeouts and has allowed just six home runs.
Compared to Berrios, Kramer has a better ERA but has thrown far fewer innings. Some might see the fewer innings pitched as a positive but we think Kramer lacks time on the mound.
The last two games haven’t gone in favor of the Toronto Blue Jays but they’re still -155 favorites to win this game. This gives us the perfect chance to take the Orioles at +130.
There are a few reasons why we’re going to take the Orioles tonight. The first is the fact that the Blue Jays are 26-29 on the road this season. The second is that the Orioles have gone 4-2 against the Blue Jays this year. Lastly, Baltimore has a 33-21 record when playing at home.
