Head Coach Todd Bowles revealed that his departure was discussed in advance.

Many noticed Tom Brady’s departure from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but Head Coach Todd Bowles assured that all of this was discussed in advance.

Bowles said that Brady would be away from the team for some time to "deal with some personal things.”

Bowles added: “This is something we talked about before training camp started.

“We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn't going to play the first two games.

“He didn't want to take away reps from Blaine [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask], as well as 'Griff' [Ryan Griffin] going into these next two games, knowing it's something he needs to handle.”

When asked if it was a health issue, Bowles doubled-down stating: “It's a personal issue. That's all I can tell you.”

He went on to state that he believes Brady will be the starting quarterback in Week 1. Barring a significant injury, we don’t see why he wouldn’t be. However, he likely won’t make any appearances during the preseason.

Brady had excused absences on Aug. 3, his previously scheduled off day and also his 45th birthday, and last Friday.

Bowles doesn’t seem concerned with the absences, citing Brady’s talent and work ethic. He also stated that Brady spent time working with new receivers, Julio Jones, Russell Gage, and TE Kyle Rudolph.

When asked about whether Brady’s personal issue impacted his commitment to the team, Bowles stated, “Per our conversation, I am not worried, no.”
