Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were all told to accept their new roles.
In an interesting move, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Manager Christophe Galtier warned his superstar trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to accept their role on the bench.
Galtier made several rotational moves, putting each of the trio on the bench at some point in the game.
In a news conference on Monday, Galtier said: “I talked about it twice -- once with each of them and once with the whole squad, to tell them that this is how it was going to be and that we had to have the right attitude and accept it.”
With the World Cup around the corner, it seems as if the rotational moves are unavoidable.
Gatier continued: “You say it's new, but it's an obligation for everyone because of the very busy schedule.
“We play a lot, every three days, then every four days, then there is the World Cup. Everyone has to understand that they won't be able to play all the games.”
The rest also seems to help the players out as they come onto the field fresh and it would also seem that the process works since PSG has scored 24 goals in their first three matches.
Presnel Kimpembe said: “Everyone has to be ready to play. The most important thing is the team. We have quality in both the starters and the substitutes.”
Galtier, who took over this season, had warned that the team would come first and it looks as if his team-first mentality is paying off.
Through the first six matches, the team is 5-0-1 and plays Juventus on September 6.1-2 record this season.
