Alabama Crimson Tide at Texas Longhorns Betting Preview

 | September 8, 2022

Two teams that started the season 1-0 face off on Saturday.

Perhaps one of the most important games to watch on Saturday is the Alabama Crimson Tide facing the Texas Longhorns.

Each of these teams started the season with a 1-0 record, now one of them will be forced to accept a loss. At the moment, the Crimson Tide is favored by twenty points.

Although it’s likely for them to win the game, the important thing is who will cover the spread. Can the Crimson Tide cover twenty points while on the road against the Longhorns? Or will Texas come out on top and cover the spread?

The first thing we’ll look at is the statistics for each team. The Crimson Tide beat the Utah State Aggies to begin the season, 55-0.

In that game, Bryce Young, Alabama’s starting quarterback, went 18-28, throwing for 195 yards and five touchdowns.

Their leading running back was also Young who put up 100 yards with a rushing touchdown as well. So, can Young do enough to cover a 20-point spread against the Texas Longhorns?

Texas beat UL Monroe 52-10 last week, the Longhorns were also at home in this game. Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns starting quarterback, threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns.

This was Ewers's debut at quarterback for the Longhorns and he didn’t disappoint. However, he faces the best team in college football when he takes on Alabama.

It’s important to keep in mind that Texas suffered several losses last season. During the 2021-22 season, the highest ranked team they faced was Oklahoma, where they lost 55-48.

Between these two, we’ll go with Alabama, they have the better offense and defense with a history of covering spreads.
