Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview
Ricky Gray | September 15, 2022
Justin Herbert and the Chargers take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs tonight.
Both the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs are coming into this game with a 1-0 record, a red hot start to the year.
Justin Herbert had a strong game in Week 1, going 26-34 with 279 yards and three touchdowns. They ended the game with a 24-19 victory in an impressive showing for the Chargers' defense.
Although they won last week, the Chargers come into this game as +4 underdogs. As a team, the Chargers currently rank eighth overall in passing yards per game.
The lack of a running game could be a big problem for the Chargers in this game, after only averaging 76 yards in their win over the Raiders.
Taking on the Chiefs, the Chargers are going to need to get creative to score points.
Their defense performed well, however, finding ways to stop Derek Carr and Davante Adams. The difference is that Patrick Mahomes is far better than Derek Carr and protects the ball.
Patrick Mahomes went 30-39 with 360 yards and five touchdowns in their win over the Arizona Cardinals. By the end of the game, the Cheifs easily beat the Cardinals 44-21.
As they head into this game, the Chiefs are likely going to focus on their offense. Their aerial attack should match up well against the Chargers secondary.
The key for the Chiefs is to make sure they block Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. If those two edge rushers pressure Mahomes, he might find himself turning the ball over.
Coming in as four-point favorites, the Chiefs are likely to cover this game at home. Last week, they had no problem going against the Cardinals' passing offense either and they covered.
Ricky’s Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -4, UNDER 54.0
