Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

 | September 21, 2022

Seattle comes off of a 4-1 loss to the Athletics last night.

The Seattle Mariners head into Game 2 of the series against the Oakland Athletics. Last night, the Mariners suffered a 4-1 loss after their batters were unable to get going.

With an 81-66 record, the Mariners are second in the AL West, sixteen games behind the Houston Astros. Getting the start on the mound tonight is Robbie Ray, who is 12-10.

With an ERA of 3.72 this season, Ray has pitched for 171.2 innings and has thrown 194 strikeouts in that time. With Ray on the mound, the Mariners have a great chance to win here.

As a team, the Mariners have a .228 batting average, one of the worst batting averages in the league. However, it’s not nearly as bad as the Oakland Athletics, so keep that in mind.

The Oakland Athletics have a 54-94 record this season with a 24-48 record at home. Last night’s 4-1 win was impressive, the question is, can they do it again tonight?

Getting the start on the mound today is James Kaprielian, who has a 3-9 record with an ERA of 4.70 this season. In the span of 115 innings, Kaprielian has thrown 80 strikeouts and allowed 16 home runs.

At the plate, the Athletics have a batting average of .216 which is far worse than the Mariners. Their on-base percentage of .281 is a big problem as they head into this game.

Although the Mariners suffered a 4-1 loss yesterday, we’re still going to take them over the Oakland Athletics tonight.
