St. Louis Cardinals at San Diego Padres Betting Preview
Ricky Gray | September 21, 2022
Padres enter the game with a 1-0 series lead after last night.
The St. Louis Cardinals have been unable to score a single run in their last two games. Yesterday, they suffered a 5-0 loss to the San Diego Padres, a team they face tonight.
With a record of 87-62, the St. Louis Cardinals lead the NL Central with an 8.5-game lead. Considering they have a significant lead in the division, the loss yesterday isn’t much of a concern.
Heading into this game, however, the Cardinals need to get back to winning. Prior to their last two losses, the Cardinals were on a three-game winning streak.
Getting the start on the mound is the 11-2 Miles Mikolas, who has an ERA of 3.46. Mikolas has pitched through 187.1 innings, throwing 138 strikeouts and allowing 24 home runs.
At the plate, the Cardinals have a .254 batting average, one of the best in Major League Baseball. They have a significant advantage over the Padres, so keep that in mind.
The Padres were able to get a 5-0 win over the Cardinals yesterday, a dominant performance. Tonight, Blake Snell (7-9), will get the start on the mound and has an ERA of 3.85.
San Diego has a pretty strong batting lineup as well, boasting an average of .241. Their on-base percentage of .318 is pretty great as well, giving them a good chance to win this game.
This is going to be a close game but we think the Padres will be able to pull it off tonight. They come in as -135 favorites and have a record of 39-31 at home.
Ricky’s Pick: San Diego Padres -135, UNDER
