The demands come after the US Soccer Federation removed an image from Iran's national flag.
The US Soccer Federation displayed Iran’s national flag on social media without the emblem of the Islamic Republic for a brief moment.
This immediately sparked outrage as Iran’s government accused US Soccer of removing the “name of God” from their national flag.
The team is expected to lodge a complaint with FIFA over the scrubbing of the emblem. The US Soccer team stated the move was to support protestors in Iran.
Iran state-affiliated media Tasnim said on Sunday that the US should be kicked out of the World Cup altogether for racism.
On Twitter, Tasnim stated: “By posting a distorted image of the flag of the Islamic Republic of #Iran on its official account, the #US football team breached the @FIFAcom charter, for which a 10-game suspension is the appropriate penalty.
“Team #USA should be kicked out of the #WorldCup2022.”
FIFA has also been called upon to take action by the Iran Football Federation.
Iranian Football Federation Legal Adviser Safia Allah Faghanpour said: “Measures taken regarding the Islamic Republic of [the] Iran flag are against international law and morality, and we'll pursue this through FIFA's morality committee.
“They must be held responsible. Obviously, they want to affect Iran's performance against the US by doing this.”
FIFA has yet to respond with a comment but they’ll have to do so soon as the US is set to face Iran this week.
USMNT defender Walker Zimmerman said: “I think it's such a focused group on the task at hand, but at the same time we empathize, and we are firm believers in women's rights and support them.”
Protests in Iran have seen at least 450 killed and 18,000 people arrested since the start.
