The home-game win streak ended at 14 after a shootout with the Knights.

The Vegas Golden Knights earned a shootout win over the Boston Bruins, putting an end to their historic home-game win streak of 14 games.

This was big for former Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, who now coaches the Vegas Golden Knights, who was fired by the Bruins last season.

The matchup between the two was an impressive one as Vegas opened the game with a 3-0 lead but the Bruins fought back, scoring three goals of their own before the end of the third period.

Boston played a video montage of Cassidy on the Jumbotron late in the opening period that ended with a picture of him saying, “Welcome back, Bruce.”

The crowd responded to the montage well and gave him an ovation in return, Cassidy waved to the crowd, thanking them in return for their support.

Cassidy said: “The streak is irrelevant to me. It's nice to come in and play well.”

The streak he’s referring to is the NHL record that the Boston Bruins set of 14 straight wins at home this season.

Jeremy Swayman was the goalie in net during the shootout but he reassured that the locker room is sticking together through the tough loss.

Swayman stated: “This locker room sticks together, and we knew we were going to do something special tonight.

“It [stinks] losing, but we're going to make sure we fix the problems.”

Bruins David Pastrnak added: “We couldn't get it done early, before the shootout. We had chances. It's a tough one to swallow.”
