Book of Ra Slot Slot Review

Book of Ra is an extremely popular and well-received game from Novomatic. It runs on HTML5. The game is sure to satisfy both beginners to the slots and the veterans of the market. The game can be somewhat customized to fit the needs or funds of the players, and while there’s nothing overly extensive, the players have the ability to regulate their wins or losses to an extent. Book of Ra is perfect for the fans of ancient cultures since it connects the gameplay with the unique theme that reminds the players of the classic Indiana Jones adventures. And who doesn’t want to be a treasure hunter, if only for a bit!

Theme & Story

Fans of ancient Egypt can rejoice – Book of Ra is the time tested (and ever-popular) depiction of the long-forgotten culture ruled by pharaohs. In this game, players can enjoy the thematic display of sandy pyramids, as well as flashes of scarabs, golden statues, and sarcophaguses. There’s even a guest appearance of the dashing treasure hunter (similar to the old adventure movie heroes) who can accompany the players on their journey to treasures. Everything is framed by the sun that’s peaking just behind the three pyramids, encouraging the players to venture deeper into the time forgotten places.

While the game doesn’t have much of a set story, there’s no denying that the strong point of the thematic slots is to encourage the player to immerse into the game mechanics, while the visuals serve as background attraction to those with more active fantasy.

Features & Graphics

There’s no denying that the graphics in this game are somewhat outdated. We have to admit there are other games that imitate the same theme with a similar feel (namely, the Book of Dead). However, it would be wrong so claim that graphics hinder the game’s performance or popularity. Book of Ra withstood the test of time, and while it may be a bit dusty by modern standards, it further underlines the idea of an ancient culture.

Then there’s the font. The players, fortunately, don’t have to decipher the real hieroglyphs, but the font of both the tiles and the game title has the outline that often associated with a papyrus. Aside from these elements, Book of Ra doesn’t do anything particularly special or innovative. There are no interactive or pop-up elements, giving it a flat (if comfortable) look.

Like many traditional slots games, the point of the game is to connect the tiles in profitable sequences. There are a total of 9 lines that can be active at the time, but the players can reduce the number to preferred levels. The line arrangements can be found in the help section within the game itself. The bets can also be adjusted according to the player’s specifications. The bets can range from 1 to 50 credits for each line you want to play with. The maximum bet can be 900 coins. After adjusting settings to their specifications, the players can spin the game manually, or let it go on autoplay.

Once you land on the lucky formation, you are given a choice. Players can wager their winnings in order to grow it. But the wagering involves a mini-game where you have to guess the color of the card that’s offered to you. If you guess correctly, your sun grows, and after each correct choice, you can leave with your winnings. But a wrong answer will negate the winnings (even the original ones).

Bonuses, free spins & wilds

We have to say the game doesn’t offer bonuses and lucky spins left and right. You have to earn it, and that’s what makes it so much better when you receive free spins or roll out a Book or two. The special tile called Book of Ra represents three bonus features, depending on how many of this tile you can roll out. By itself, Book serves as a wild symbol. If you roll two Books, it’ll count as scatter and will multiply your bet. Three Books will give you ten three spins. During these bonus rounds, there will be a random symbol that might offer additional payouts.

Book of Ra can be considered a staple on the market. This game perfectly combines the feel of the old action-adventure movies that spoke of riches of the forgotten tombs and the simplicity and engagement of slots. Players have certain control over their game, with no major adjustments that might give an unfair advantage. Simply select your bet amount and how many lines you want to play with. Book of Ra is great for the high rollers and timid beginners alike, and the long-standing presence in the gaming lists of various casinos certainly speaks of the quality it offers.
