The Gators will look to hand the Volunteers their first loss of the season.

The Florida Gators have had an interesting start to their season, going 2-1 to start the year. Their loss, however, was an unexpected one to the University of Kentucky in Week 2.

Last week, however, they bounced back from that loss and beat South Florida. Earning a 31-28 win, the Florida offense was on display but their defense is causing a few concerns.

Starting quarterback for Florida, Anthony Richardson, has had a tumultuous start to the season. Last week, he nearly cost Florida the game with a late interception, his second on the day.

He only threw for 112 yards in that game as the Gators are primarily a running football team. Running back Montrell Johnson Jr. had a 62-yard touchdown run to start the second quarter.

As a team, the Gators average 212 rushing yards per game and will look to establish that against the 3-0 Tennessee Volunteers. The only problem is Tennessee has one of the best rushing defenses in college football.

Allowing an average of just 83.3 rushing yards per game, the Volunteers are well-equipped to deal with the Florida Gators running game.

Through the first three weeks, the Volunteers are 3-0 with a big win over Pittsburgh in Week 2.

Offensively, Tennessee averages 553.7 yards per game, most of which is passing yards (371.3). Because of this team’s ability to air it out, they come in with a sizable advantage over the Gators.

Hendon Hooker, the starting quarterback for Tennessee, is the player to watch here. Hooker has thrown six touchdowns this season and 844 yards without a single interception.

The Volunteers come into this game as 10.5-point favorites and although we think they’ll win on Saturday, we’ll take Florida +10.5 against the spread.
