The struggling Lightning are hoping to get a key win on the road.
Although the season has just begun, a few teams are struggling and that includes the Tampa Bay Lightning who have a record of 1-3-0.
The sole win they have this season was against the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 14. They beat the Blue Jackets 5-2 but lost the two games that followed.
On average, the Lightning is scoring 2.50 goals per game while allowing 3.50. For a team that has been known as an offensive powerhouse in previous season, they’re struggling to start the year.
They also have a record of 1-2-0 when playing on the road, which is a big problem. Sure, they beat the Blue Jackets on the road but lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers.
Their opponent tonight is the Florida Panthers who have a 3-1-0 record this season. Their first two games were on the road and they won back-to-back games.
Their single loss this year is against the Boston Bruins, another road game. Their game against the Lightning is only their second game at home this season.
The Panthers offense looks pretty impressive this season, averaging 3.50 goals per game. They’re allowing 3.00 goals per game which could be a bit better.
Still, between these two teams, the Florida Panthers are a slightly better pick. Interestingly enough, each of these teams comes in as -110 favorites.
When looking at how they’ve performed this season, in our opinion, the Panthers are the better bet tonight.
