The superstar Yankee hasn't thought much about his future in New York.
The season is over for the New York Yankees but a lot of the decisions that Aaron Judge has to make will happen during the offseason.
After being swept by the Houston Astros, the New York Yankees were booted from the postseason and now everyone wonders if Judge will return.
At this point, Judge hasn’t come to a conclusion on his future with the team. His teammates, however, hope that last season isn’t the last time they’ll play together.
Manager Aaron Boone commented on Judge’s season, saying: “Just an incredible season. Someone that I've grown close with and just admire and respect. And hopefully, we'll see him in pinstripes for a long time. I don't even want to think about the alternative right now.”
Infielder DJ LeMahieu added: “I'd be real disappointed if he's not back; big shock if he's not back.
“But you just never know how that goes. I feel like he definitely wants to be here, but when it becomes a business, it changes a lot.”
Judge is a free agent, so he could technically sign wherever he wants providing the team has enough funds to sign him.
On this, Judge said: “That's all going to run through my agent. I haven't even thought about the next step yet.
“But like I said, we've got time to figure it out.”
Judge described his six-year career with the Yankees as a positive one, saying: “Getting the chance to wear the pinstripes and play right field at Yankee Stadium, it's an incredible honor that I definitely didn't take for granted at any point.
“I always checked myself pregame, when I'd say a little prayer, I'd kind of look around the stadium and kind of pinch myself that there are very few individuals that get a chance to run out on that field and do that and play in front of the fans that support us throughout my whole six years here.
“It was a special time. I just kick myself for not bringing home that championship for them.”
The way he spoke about his time with the Yankees, the heavy-hitter might not return next season.
