The Houston Astros come into this game off a big 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last week. Now, with the World Series tied at 1-1, they’ll look to earn another.
It won’t be easy but the Astros are a capable team that has a history of performing well under pressure. They’re on the road for the first time in this series, though, so keep that in mind.
On the mound tonight is Lance McCullers Jr. for the Houston Astros. McCullers has a record of 4-2 this season with an ERA of 2.27.
With McCullers on the mound, the Astros are in pretty great shape today. The question is whether their batters can find a way to capitalize early.
Getting a fast start against the Phillies is exactly what the Astros will need tonight. They can’t afford to have what happened in Game 1, happen again.
The Phillies, on the other hand, need to push the envelope with the Astros and force them into a tough position. If they can get an early lead, they can put pressure on the Astros batters.
Although Noah Syndergaard is getting the start, he might not do as well as you’d think. He’s had a tough year, going 10-10 during the regular season.
This isn’t to say he’s not a good pitcher but he’s had trouble against strong batting lineups. The Astros have a pretty good group and have a lot of momentum heading into this game.
