Aaron Judge signs blockbuster deal with Yankees

The heavy-hitter will stay in New York on a nine-year $360m contract.

Aaron Judge hit free agency and likely visited with a few teams but none of them offered a contract as lucrative as the one he just entered.

Judge has now signed a new contract with the New York Yankees, keeping him in the state and with the team he’s built his legacy with.

This contract will more than likely span throughout the rest of his career as he’s signed a nine-year $360m deal that will see him retire as a Yankee.

Last season, Judge earned his first MVP award while hitting .311/.425/.686 with an AL-leading 131 RBIs.

Prior to Judge’s signing, General Manager Brian Cashman said: “We'd love to have our player back. We would love to continue to call him our player every step of the way as he follows what looks like -- as long as nothing happens -- a career path that will lead him to Cooperstown.

“I would like him to be in pinstripes every step of the way.”

It would seem that Cashman will get his wish as the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year winner is locked in for another nine years.

Although it’s possible that Judge continues to play after this contract runs out, it’s likely he’ll be on the trail end of his career and will stick in New York.

Cashman also received an extension to stay with the Yankees as the General Manager for the next seven years. He’ll be tasked with bringing the team a World Series win.

With Judge’s help, the Yankees could very well pull off another win.
